Volunteer Spotlight

Bob G.

The CRBH Board would like to recognize Bob G. for his contributions to the Bike Hub! He has been instrumental in planning and staffing our Meet Me at the Market rides this season. These rides have allowed riders to improve their skills and confidence over the season while also having fun!

Bob started getting into bikes about a year ago. His cousin, Dust'n, introduced him to the joys of fat bikes and Bob’s love for biking has only grown, earning him the title of “Bike Explorer.” He is active in many biking associations and has an unwavering commitment to keeping up with trail maintenance in Cedar Rapids.

What Bob enjoys about volunteering is seeing people take the next step and pick out a bike to begin riding. He is great about advocating for new riders, so they can be included and engaged as they enter biking communities.

Bob also enjoys the atmosphere of learning how to work on bikes without expectations at the Bike Hub. He has greatly improved his skills and confidence with fixing bikes, and he enjoys sharing his knowledge with others to pay-it-forward. Being able to learn and work on bikes has given Bob a sense of pride as he remembers helping his dad fix things when he was on their farm.

The CRBH board members appreciate Bob’s willingness to help with whatever needs attention, and his overall enthusiasm for riding is wonderful to be around. His kindness, thoughtfulness, positive attitude, and love for learning and sharing have been a wonderful addition to our CRBH team!
